As government employee, I only have PhilHealth to depend on when it comes to my medical needs. But how far could it take me to? I have begun to ask this question lately. I need a more accessible health care provider that offers a more complete set of medical services. I'm not getting any younger, after all.
I have yet to decide which particular health care provider I should sign up with but as of now, my eyes are on Maxicare Healthcare Program. Maxicare Corporation, the company behind it, has been in the business for decades now and is one of the top players in the healthcare industry in the Philippines. I heard they even have affiliations abroad.
Maxicare Healthcare Program offers four plans (silver, gold, platinum and platinum plus) and can be paid on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly basis. The rates/premiums for each plan depend on your age which goes something like this: the older you are, the higher the premium to pay for your medical needs.
Here are the rates for the Gold plan (which appeals to me health-wise and economically speaking) according to age group:

Rates as of May 2008, Source: Maxicare website
To know what best suits you or just learn more about Maxicare Healthcare Program, visit http://www.maxicare.com.ph. As for me, I'll have to check my finances first if I could still afford this sort of health insurance coverage.
Wait, anyone here who's a Maxicare member? How's your experience with them so far? :)
