Former President Cory Aquino's funeral is slated on August 5, 2009 and so, the Arroyo government decided to make it a special non-working holiday in the Philippines. This means all Filipinos who would like to join the Aquino family in paying their last respects to the great Filipina leader can do so with enough time on their hands. Also,a 10-day period of national mourning (August 1 to 10, 2009) was declared through Proclamation No. 1850.

According to the news, Former President Cory Aquino will be buried at the Manila Memorial Park. She will be reunited with her late husband Senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. who is buried at the same cemetery.
