1. I transferred to a different office. 2008 is actually my first year in my present job. This post encapsulates my every thought about the career move. I never regretted it. In fact, I am very grateful to God for my present job. Work has never been this challenging and easy at the same time.
2. My younger sister arrived in Manila to live with me. Last May, my younger sister Nyam came from Negros to go to college here in Manila. She was to leave with me and my younger brother in our little room that I've been renting since 2003. It was mission accomplished for me, somehow. There's only three family members left in Negros and I know that soon, we will all be together living under one roof.
3. I attended several weddings of friends. All in all, I guess I attended seven. How cool could that be? Weddings mean new families and new families mean happiness and harmony. I wonder when will I wed, though. Hopefully, not this year. Haha.
4. I've been to Baguio City and Cebu City a couple of times. I've never been well-traveled than in 2008. Thanks to Cebu Pacific for the seat sales and to our generous friends for the great company and warm acommodations.
5. I got Hardy, my first ever laptop. After some in-store canvassing and research online, I finally bought the laptop that meets all my needs as an average PC user. My two siblings who live with me love Hardy to the bones. It makes college more manageable for them. Haha.
6. I became more active in blogging. In 2008, I was able to put up my first domain www.edelweiza.com (with the help of Itot and a few others, of course) and attended several interesting blogger events that added color to my social life.
7. I got my dream DSLR. Together with Edwin, I am now a proud owner of a Canon 1000d that is definitely a wise-buy. Watch out for my detailed review in this blog!
8. I maintained a planner. I never thought I could do it but I did. Keeping a journal of what I did (yes, not what I'd do) last year was both challenging and fulfilling. When the time comes that I'd look back to what my life had been at one point in the past, my 2008 Starbucks planner will serve as an easy reference.
9. I learned how to play volleyball, but not so much. I used to dread this sport. I was afraid the ball would land on my face and hit me hard. Now, the fear is gone. I'm far from being good at it, but the fact that I can now throw and catch the ball is a milestone (Hello, Superfriend!).
10. I won in several online and offline contests. They were all out of pure luck, but still, I felt a sense of fulfillment and of course, overwhelming gratitude. They didn't turn me into a rich or privileged girl overnight but I was happy I got to share these blessings with my loved ones.
11. I learned how to make money online. Sure, my knowledge is limited but I am willing to try harder this year to make my online dreams come true, financially wise and all.
12. No major problems and accidents. In 2007, my brother broke her left foot in a toilet-related accident and almost knocked himself out. It pained me to see him in physical and emotional pain. That is, even if I knew there is a reason for everything. Last year, no major problems and accidents hit my family. I cannot be more grateful to God. He really watches over us, no doubt about that.
13. My romantic relationship has been smooth-sailing. Thanks to Edwin for that. I love you. And your family. Good things are better left unsaid.
14. My family has remained intact. Parents getting fed up of each other for some deep-seated reasons is common. I'm just glad that my parents rose up to the challenges of raising a family and did not let their emotions overshadow their love for each other. My siblings were well-behaved last year (no major headaches on my part) and that made me stress-free most of the time.
As we welcome 2009, I hope everything will be fine. Or to the very least, manageable for all of us. :)
