They say learning knows no age. No matter how young or old you are, learning new knowledge or skill is possible. There is this ongoing campaign in the metro teaching the elderly how to use the computer and get connected to their family and friends. It was started by a telecoms company through a series of TV commercials on internet connection featuring a grandmother chatting with her favorite grandson online, with matching webcam.
In one ad, the grandmother is sharing about her improving online chatting skills with her grandson. In another, she is raving about the social networking sites of which she is now a member. The ads are very entertaining and at the same time, sending a strong message to the elderly that they too can enjoy the benefits of technology even at their advancing years. The ads got a positive response from the public which may have prompted the telecoms company to initiate a campaign in this direction. That is, teaching the elderly how to use the computer and eventually, allow them to explore the web to their advantage.
While my parents have seen a computer and are aware of its basic functions, I deem it is proper for them to know how to use one. My father already knows how to use the computer but I feel he still has a lot to learn. That is why I plan to buy a computer training software for him that’s designed to enhance his computer skills. He and my mom deserve to learn new things and I can see they’re very positive about it.
