What SONA?

Posted by edelweiza in , , , ,

State of the Nation Address (SONA) tomorrow. This will be the last from her. Are you listening to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's final SONA tomorrow? Or are you joining the others who plan to boycott it and rally outside the Batasan Pambansa instead? Students will be home because there are no classes tomorrow as announced earlier by the government. But workers have work. (It's special working holiday for all us due to the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) Anniversary.) We will be at our respective workplaces as SONA, always an important event in Philippine history, unfolds itself.

Is she declaring Martial Law before Election Day? Is she going to step down at the end of her term? What are her plans when she's not RP President anymore? What has really happened and is really happening to our country today? Where is she steering us to, prosperity or poverty? These are just some of the vital questions that need clear answers from the President herself.

As for me, I am listening to PGMA's SONA. Because as Filipino, I have the right to know. I have ears and eyes to figure out the truths and the lies from what she will be saying tomorrow about the real state our nation under her administration. It's like discerning between right and wrong. I'm still the master of my thoughts, beliefs and convictions. No one or no group can influence me.

So, are you listening to the SONA? It starts at exactly 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, as the highlight of the rituals for the opening of the 3rd regular session of the 14th Congress of the Philippine House of Representatives.
