In the Philippines, March is synonymous to graduations, festivities and summer. It is the time of the year when people get excited about and busy with graduation ceremonies, fiesta preparations (for those in the provinces) and beach parties. In the same manner, March is not March without taking a keen look at fire prevention and of course, women.
This March, let's try to be supportive of the fire prevention efforts of the Bureau of Fire Protection. After all, March is Fire Prevention Month. Fire does not only immobilize economic activities but it also destroy properties and claim lives. That is why it is only appropriate that we practice safety measures to prevent fire. And it should start in our own households.
Aside from the campaign to prevent fire, March is also Women's Month. The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW), the leading government agency for women empowerment, spearheads Women's Month this March. The theme for this year's celebration is "Babae, Yaman ka ng Bayan!" It highlights the indispensable role of women in nation building, particularly in economic development and poverty reduction.
Below are the power events for women organized by the NCRFW:
1."Go Negosyo: Babae, Yaman Ka ng Bayan," at World Trade Center, Pasay City

2. Launch of the NCRFW Gender and Development Portal (March 2, 2009)

The Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) partners with the NCRFW to organize the Go Negosyo Women Entrepreneurship Summit, considered the biggest women event of the year. The event will gather at least 3,000 participants from women's organizations, microenterprises, NGOs, academe, private sector and government.
Mini lectures and fora on negosyo basics ranging from best marketing practices for small enterprises, entrepreneurial financial management, leadership styles, competitiveness in the export market, technology utilization to tips and advice on concerns that women entrepreneurs face: health and wellness, fitness, family life and work balance will be conducted. Different products and services relating to the needs and wants of women consumers will also be showcased through the booths and exhibits.
