This is the first time I have cleaned my blogroll. I had a lot of time in my hands yesterday and so I decided to remove some links in my blogroll (which turned out to be many) that do not link to this site anymore. I'm a bit disappointed that there are people who do not have palabra de honor (word of honor). When we were exchanging links, we agreed that the link exchange would be for good. But as it turned out, it was only a one-sided agreement. I was the only one who followed the rule. The blogs of dishonest people (link removers) do not deserve to be there, which is why I removed them all. From 277 links, I was relieved to find out my blogroll has only 143 links now.
As far as I know, there's only one rule that should be followed in a link exchange. That is, to keep the links permanent so long as the site is up. Is that very difficult to do?
I know at some point, I have not given attention to some blog owners who requested to have an exchange link with me. Or that it took me some time to answer them. But whenever I'd do a link exchange to anybody, I'd keep my word. Because that is how I was raised. I will never betray anyone's trust especially if we have agreed on something that is for our mutual benefit.
If for some reason, I have accidentally removed your link in my blogroll (like during a blog transfer or an acquisition of a new domain or after I have cleaned my blogroll yesterday), let me know so I could correct things at once. As for my link removers, they haven't changed to a new blog or a new domain or even a new blog theme. It seemed they just wanted to get rid of the links of people's blogs whom they don't know too well, whom they just approached online to exchange links with during a critical moment in their blogs' life (like when they were just starting and trying to build their blogs' statistics/rankings).
If for some reason, you don't want to link to my site anymore, tell me in the face so I could remove your link in my blogroll. Let's not waste each other's time.
For those people who have stopped blogging and deleted their sites already, I respect your decision. You don't owe me anything.
If you want a link exchange with me (for good), you could always email me or comment on this post. So long as your blog is decent (no porn and spammy content), I'll be glad to accept it.
Thank you!
