On average, the Philippines is pestered by up to 20 typhoons a year. Today, we are once again dealing with not just a typhoon but a supertyphoon. Locally, it is called Juan but it's international name is Megi. Metro Manila has been declared Signal No. 1 by PAGASA but who knows, it could be worse than that. Vigilance and preparation are still very much needed.
To my fellow Pinoys in Cagayan, Isabela and Ilocos Norte (seen to be directly hit by the typhoon), please be alert and take extra caution and care. We do not want any casualties and we pray for your safety.
If there is one thing I learned from my varied typhoon experiences, it's that being with your family strengthens our spirit. With them around, burdens seem to get lighter and problems seem to get easier to resolve. During typhoons, keep your family in one place as much as possible. This way, it's easier to decide on things and help becomes more available.
Be safe, people!
