Medical clearance is one of the requirements for enrollment in most schools in Metro Manila. When Jodie got accepted into the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), I knew she'll get one, too. Unfortunately for her, it took us two days to complete her medical clearance (chest x-ray and physical exam) in one of the top state universities in the Philippines. The lines were unbelievably long. But we didn't give up as we had a mission to accomplish and we were already running out of time.

From our recent PUP experience, we learned that being an early bird pays. If you're an incoming freshman in PUP, make sure you follow the scheduled date where you are to get your medical clearance and of course, the date of your enrollment. Also, make sure you come a few hours earlier than your scheduled time. You know you wouldn't want to lose your chance to study there. Yes, despite the fact that there's an impending 2,000% increase in its tuition fees. That's one of the sad realities PUP freshmen should face. Let's hope the administration changes its mind soon.
