Edwin and I checked out the 1st Philippine International Pyromusical Competition in Mall of Asia last night. It's a month-long event (February 14 to March 14, 2010) held every Sunday at MOA Complex and participated in by countries such as US, China, France, UK and the Philippines, among others. Last night, the performers were UK and China. I was impressed with UK's show more than China's. Their pyromusical display was breathtaking! I forgot my problems for a few minutes just by watching their winning act. We regretted not bringing a decent camera to capture some snapshots of the event. Next time I promised to be more prepared. *sigh*
The fireworks displays for this competition, unlike the others of its kind, are synchronized with music. It's livelier and more entertaining that way. That's the reason why thousands of people from different walks of life have been flocking to MOA the past Sunday nights.
If you like this kind of show, you can still catch four more performers until March 14. This coming Sunday, it will be France vs. Japan and on the last and final week, Australia vs. our very own, the Philippines.

In my humble opinion, the best spot to watch the pyromusical is in front of MOA's Music Hall. When we were there last night, we were sitting on the left stairs near the Music Hall fronting the bay. From there, we had an unobstructed view of the pyromusical shows.
It's good that the Department of Tourism, in partnership with other organizations, have thought of putting this show together. Not only does it give further boost to our tourism industry, it also promotes a healthier relationship among families. I noticed that 80% of the spectators last night were families. It's family bonding at its best and I'd like to see more of that. :)
