That is my techie boyfriend's dilemma at present. He is torn between the two mobile phones from two different brands. iPhone 3GS is now available in the Philippines while Nokia E72 isn't (yet). I can only give him one advice, that is for him to follow his heart. By that, I also mean that he should identify the features he wants and uses the most and find out if the two phones have most, if not all of them.

I believe that when buying a phone, one should think about the lifestyle he leads. This means if you're more into games, you should buy a phone that's built for games. Of course it's a given that you get the basic call and text capabilities from all the phones sold in the market today. The other features are just a bonus. The same goes if you're into music, fashion or technology. If you can find all the features you use on a regular basis in the phone you're eyeing, then that phone is the best for you. That easy. Price and design are also important considerations but you can deal with them later.
