Last Tuesday night, my Superfriend and I attended a workshop courtesy of our problogger friend Noemi Dado. It was organized by Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Philippines (CBTL) and the venue was at the CBTL-Bonifacio High Street Branch in Taguig City. It took almost four hours (overall program flow and workshop proper) but it was all worth it.
There were three workshop categories namely: creative writing, photography and short film. We were to choose one and I signed up for creative writing simply because I want to hone my writing skills. Our lecturer was the nine-time Palanca awardee Dean Francis Alfar.
Despite the numerous achievements tucked under his belt, Mr. Alfar was very humble and approachable. Aside from introducing us to flash and speculative fiction, he also shared writing tips with us. He lectured to us in a very casual manner, which got me thinking it must be really cool to have a teacher like him.
There was a sort of contest during the workshop wherein participants were asked to submit an entry based on the workshop category they chose and all had to be somewhat related to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, hence, the "My Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Story" promotion. Awarding soon followed (congrats to the winners!) and before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye to fellow bloggers (some of them I have already met in past blogger events).
CBTL staff were generous enough to serve us coffee and mouth-watering treats. And before we left, the PR people distributed loot bags containing CBTL mugs and gift certificates. What more could I possibly ask for? I mean, it was a totally awesome experience. I won't mind attending more workshops like this in the future. Hehee.
P.S. Many thanks to Ms. Noemi for reserving a slot for me and to CBTL, good luck in your business and more power!
